How to Actually Beat the Leviathan

First, a correction to a common mix-up: the sea monster you fight while casually sailing is the Sea Beast, a much smaller mini-boss. The Leviathan is a Third Sea raid boss that only appears inside the Frozen Dimension, a rare sea event that spawns at Sea Danger Level 6. It has 1,000,000 total health split across four segments — including its head — and the main body takes no damage until every other segment is destroyed. You can't just tunnel the head and win.

It also ignores most attacks. The Leviathan is immune to standard M1 melee and single-target moves; only a specific set of fruits and weapons can hurt it. Between its size, its health pool, and its attack immunity, it's the closest thing Blox Fruits has to a true raid boss — which is exactly why a coordinated squad matters more here than almost anywhere else in the game.

The Leviathan doesn't appear on its own. You first raise its odds by bribing the Spy, an NPC standing on the roof of the middle temple at Tiki Outpost. Each bribe costs 1,500 fragments, and a full bribe is four payments — 6,000 fragments in total — which increases the Frozen Dimension's spawn chance. Because the Spy's clue is shared across the server, the bribe can be split: four players each paying once counts the same as one player paying four times, so a squad can share the 6,000-fragment cost.

With the bribe in, sail the Third Sea into Sea Danger Level 6 until the Frozen Dimension appears around your boat. It's a sea event, not a server-wide announcement — it spawns near your ship as you travel through the deep danger levels, so keep moving. Watch the Spy's dialogue: 'The Leviathan is out there!' means your spawn boost is live, while 'I don't know anything yet' means you're on cooldown. After you summon a Leviathan, you'll need to clear 20 or more sea events before the Spy will take another bribe.

The Frozen Dimension has a hard gate. Inside it stands the Frozen Watcher, the NPC that opens the door to the fight — and it will only respond if your Sea Exploration Group has at least 5 players. Below that number you literally cannot start the encounter. This is the one step you can't solo or shortcut, and it's the single biggest reason a pre-formed squad saves so much time.

Past the minimum, more players is simply better. With a full group focusing fire, the 1,000,000-HP bar and its four segments fall quickly, and you spend far less time exposed to the Leviathan's attacks. Five is the floor for a reliable kill, not the target — build toward a bigger group when you can.

The Leviathan shrugs off most attacks, so your loadout decides the fight. It's immune to normal M1s except those of Dragon, Kitsune, Gas, Yeti, Tiger, Mammoth, awakened Dough, awakened Phoenix, Gravity, and Explosive Guns. The two standout picks are Dragon and Magma — every one of their moves connects, and both hit hard enough to shred segments. Strong AoE fighting styles like Sharkman Karate, Death Step, Dragon Talon, and Sanguine Art round out a good kit.

Destroy the four segments before the head, since the main body is invulnerable until the rest are gone. If a segment is taking too long, deal enough to lock in your drops and swap to the next rather than burning your whole timer on one. Crucially, you must deal at least 8% of a segment's damage yourself to earn any rewards from it — so stay active on the boss instead of hanging back and leeching.

The Leviathan has a small, telegraphed move set. Snowstorm of Death spawns two to three tall tornadoes that don't hit hard but stun — dodge them with flight or mobility. Cold Frostpiercer is a roaring AoE that fires ice spears, freezing and knocking you back, so stay away from its head when it rears up. Sub-Zero Annihilation flashes a red zone about five seconds before a devastating tail swipe — leave the red area immediately, because sky-camping won't save you. Frostbite Dive sends it underwater to resurface near a player; it deals no damage, but reposition once it dives.

The good news: you don't have to babysit your boat. The moment you enter the Frozen Dimension your ship is fully healed and the Leviathan can't damage it — in fact, don't fully repair before summoning, since the fight restores it anyway (repair only up to about 2,000 HP if it's been beaten up). Bring healing for yourself, keep moving, and let the red zones and roars tell you when to back off.

Beating the Leviathan is one of the most rewarding fights in the game. The kill drops roughly 250,000 money, 1,000 fragments, 5 levels, 2,200 Valor, 3–5 Leviathan Scales, and the Serpent Slayer title, while each destroyed segment adds more money, scales, a level, and bounty. Those Scales are why many players farm it — you need 20 of them to craft the Beast Hunter boat.

The rarest drop, the Leviathan Heart, comes with a catch: it only appears if someone in your group is using the Beast Hunter boat, and it lasts just one minute. Start hunting down the Beast Hunter's harpoon when the main body drops to around 10–15% health, fire the harpoon at the Heart, and haul it back to Tiki Outpost without dying to claim it. Miss the minute or die on the way home and the Heart is gone — so line up the boat before the boss falls.
